Harrington Woman Decides to “Try, Try Again” — Then Celebrates Winning the $100,000 Top Prize in the Delaware Lottery MYSTERY MULTIPLIER Instant Game

DOVER, Del. (Sept. 18, 2026) — The story of how a Harrington retiree won the $100,000 top prize playing the Delaware Lottery MYSTERY MULTIPLIER Instant Game puts a new spin on the old adage of “try, try again.” The 67-year-old woman wasn’t a fan of this particular Instant Game. However, when she arrived at Bridle Bit Liquors — located at 17384 S. DuPont Highway in Harrington — she saw happy MYSTERY MULTIPLIER players coming away with smaller prizes. This prompted her to give the Instant Game a try.

She purchased a few MYSTERY MULTIPLIER tickets from the Retailer, won several hundred dollars and was inspired to try again. All told, the woman purchased six tickets — including the one that made her the first Delaware Lottery player to win the MYSTERY MULTIPLIER $100,000 top prize.

Ironically, perhaps, the winner initially did not intend to make the purchase.

“My instinct told me not to buy the ticket, but I did anyway,” said the winner when she claimed her prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on Sept. 10. “My initial reaction was, ‘No way!’”

The woman — who opted not to release her name publicly — told Lottery Officials that she will use some of her prize to pay bills but doesn’t have plans yet for the rest the money.

“The Delaware Lottery is incredibly happy for this $100,000 top-prize winner and the other players whose smaller wins indirectly encouraged her to try the MYSTERY MULTIPLIER Instant Game,” said Helene Keeley, director of the Delaware Lottery. “This story demonstrates that the fun of playing the Delaware Lottery can have a ripple effect. Many people are inspired to play by someone else’s prize. Many also find joy in seeing other people win. We remind everyone to play responsibly and to remember — as this story tells us — that playing the Delaware Lottery is an enjoyable experience that isn’t wholly about winning money.”

The $100,000 MYSTERY MULTIPLIER winner is a Delaware native who has been a regular Delaware Lottery player for more than 20 years. She told Delaware Lottery Officials that this is by far her biggest prize. After she scratched off her ticket, she contacted her former workplace supervisor to share the good news.

“This will change my life for the better,” said the winner. “Thank you!”

The MYSTERY MULTIPLIER Instant Game costs $20 and offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from $25 to the $100,000 top prize. As of Sept. 11, 2026, two of the three original top prizes remain unclaimed. MYSTERY MULTIPLIER tickets are available at Delaware Lottery Retailers statewide.
